Joining the OAR Team

Offender Aid and Restoration is a nonprofit human services agency based in Arlington, Virginia. At OAR we take pride in the professionalism of the offender services staff, and in the dedication of our community volunteers.

Internship opportunities are frequently available and offer the student an experience quite unique in the human services field.

Professional opportunities become available periodically and are announced on this web site and several other Internet locations.

Internships

Candidates for OAR Internships will:

Have a professional interest in offender services or the criminal justice system.

Express a desire to work for a nonprofit agency.

Find challenge and reward in reentry services, supervised community service, jail-based programs, or volunteer programs.

Be presently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate educational program in sociology, psychology, social work, criminal justice studies or related discipline.

Assistant instructor for jail-based classes in career development, anger management, domestic violence intervention, and substance abuse recovery

Interested in full-time or part-time entry-level employment in the human services? Anticipating an internship experience related to an accredited college or university program?

OAR offers employees the benefit of internship supervision subject to the approval of their institution’s internship coordinator and OAR supervisor. Most commonly, individuals obtain employment with OAR and then seek an internship arrangement within the scope of their staff duties.

DC Community Service Program Coordinator
OAR is seeking a full time Juvenile Community Service Program Coordinator to manage the DC Juvenile Community Service program, supervising staff, volunteers, and court ordered juvenile community service clients in the Northwest Sector of Washington, DC. The Coordinator is expected to work closely with government agencies, non-profits, faith based communities and other stakeholders in order to foster and maintain an atmosphere of mutual trust and support. The Coordinator will work with OAR’s Director of Programs in the identification and defining specific policies and procedures, staff trainings, and expanded program services. The Coordinator will assist in preparing budget projections for the program, and will maintain day-to-day oversight of the project budget. The Coordinator researches, identifies, and analyzes program requirements and opportunities for development of long range plans for the project.
