Volunteer Opportunities

OAR staff coordinates and supervises a variety of volunteer activities at the Arlington County Detention Facility, the OAR office, as well as other locations. The following is a sample of the volunteer opportunities, but it is by no means complete. If you have a skill or program idea to suggest, please let us know.

Development and Special Projects Volunteer Opportunities

Special Events Volunteer
Assist OAR with one-time special projects such as the Arlington County Fair, Thanksgiving Baskets, Project Christmas Angel, and other events throughout the year.

Fundraising Volunteer
Assist OAR Development staff to plan and implement fundraising campaigns and events. Opportunities include helping with appeal letters, phone calls and special events. Flexible schedule. 

Jail Volunteer Opportunities

 Group Facilitator
Facilitate course that helps individuals develop skills in anger management, stress management, and conflict resolution.  Course will be taught in an all-male unit at the Arlington County Detention Facility. Three hours per week time commitment (includes travel and preparation actual time with clients 1.5 hours). Flexible schedule. One year commitment required. Must be able to pass a full background check.
