Dear *{{First Name}}*,

A New Year is upon us. For many of us, the New Year is a fresh start—a time for resolutions and goal setting. For those impacted by incarceration, the New Year is a time for hope as they look to the future on their journey toward joy and success.

With the generous support of donors like you, OAR has been a champion to individuals and families affected by marginalization, discrimination, and inequalities of the criminal legal system for four decades.

Let me introduce you to Winston*. Before his incarceration, Winston worked towards an engineering degree in aviation. Unfortunately, Winston was incarcerated at a local detention facility before graduating. It was there, through OAR’s courses offered at the facility, that he first became connected to our organization—and he remained in contact as he prepared for his journey home.

Despite all the obstacles before him, Winston was eager to finish school and complete his degree upon his release. OAR was able to help pay off the remaining balance of Winston’s tuition so he could re-enroll in classes at the university. We also supported Winston with transportation, food and housing assistance.

Winston graduated in May 2022, and the OAR Collective was fortunate enough to be there for him at his graduation ceremony. He earned his degree, has a job he loves, and continues to work towards his goals. We were thrilled to support Winston in his educational journey and are amazed by everything he has accomplished for himself.

As we approach the New Year, we thank you for your support so we can journey with more individuals like Winston. We are so grateful.

From all of us at OAR, we hope your New Year is filled with joy and success.

Sincerely,

Your Friends at OAR
