Fair Chance Business Pledge

Do you represent a business that believes in giving second chances?  Is your business open to hiring individuals with a criminal history?  OAR is reaching out to local businesses throughout the Metro DC area and is asking them to sign the “Fair Chance Business Pledge” as a way to demonstrate commitment to offering second chances to individuals who have a criminal history. When almost 70 million Americans – nearly one in three adults – have a criminal record, it is important to remove unnecessary barriers that may prevent these individuals from gaining access to employment, training, education and other basic tools required for success in life.  This initiative began as a national effort under President Obama.  The national pledge is now inactive, but over 100 businesses signed on to the pledge, including Best Buy, CVS, Facebook, Target, Uber, and many others.

We know there are many businesses in our area who are committed to providing equal opportunities to all, including individuals with a criminal record.  Please consider signing on to our local version of the “Fair Chance Business Pledge” today!

The Pledge:  “We are committed to providing individuals with criminal records, including formerly incarcerated individuals, a fair chance to participate in the American economy.”

By taking this pledge, your business is joining a community of local partners that believe in second chances.  Your company name will be added to our website as having signed the pledge.

Take the Fair Chance Business Pledge Today!

  • In addition to taking the pledge, we are also offering the opportunity to take action today by donating $200 to OAR, and in exchange we will feature your company in multi-media outreach efforts during Second Chance Month in April 2018. We anticipate these outreach efforts to reach at least 2,000 people.
