Buy A Neighbor School Supplies
OAR is partnering with Volunteer Arlington to host the “Buy A Neighbor School Supplies” program. This is collaborative fundraier amongst AHC Inc, Bridges to Independence, Randolph PTA, and OAR that will support children and families in need of school supplies and resources for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic school year in all of our respective programs. For as little as $10, community members can make a significant difference. All donations can be made online on the Volunteer Arlington website. Your donations will be used to help each participating organization distribute gift cards and funds, allowing the children and families in our programs to safely purchase their own school supplies and resources.
All donations OAR receives from the “Buy A Neighbor School Supplies” fundraiser will go directly to OAR’s back-to-school program, Project Backpack. In the past, OAR has provided new backpacks and school supplies to children and families impacted by incarceration. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic last year, we have decided to fundraise for this program solely online and via mail and made the switch to providing each child with $25-50 gift cards instead due to safety concerns brought on by the pandemic. Our first priority at OAR is to keep all of our participants and their families, volunteers, team members, and community members as safe and healthy as possible. We cannot do this without the help of the community! We are asking people of all ages to come together to support this very tangible need. For the “Buy A Neighbor School Supplies” fundraiser, donations will be collected through August 6th, 2021 in order to get the resources distributed in time for online/distant learning.
